  Turnbull's car rental have a terrible coverage policy and even worse customer service. I specifically asked about damage cover when I picked up the rental because driving on motorways can sometimes have stray rocks hit windscreens or the car and cause nicks or dents, or if someone opens a door in a neighbouring vehicle while parked and dents your car I didn't want to be liable for damage. On the day I picked up the rental the rep at Turnbull's carhire promised I would be covered for basics such as these and if I took out the Collision Damage waiver I would only be liable for damage to the car if I was at fault in an accident and even then would only be liable for damages up to $400.

  I was shocked and disturbed that a professional organisation would tell someone who is NOT the card holder or the signatory on all of the documentation about charging MY CREDIT CARD for damages and then never follow up with any notice whatsoever. Turnbull car rentals refused to refund any money charged, never bothered to notify me of the damage or the charge they made to my credit card. The entire experience with Turnbulls has been a nightmare. Turn bull's car hire sold me extra insurance cover under false pretences, misrepresented their basic insurance coverage, notified someone who wasn't ME about charging MY CREDIT CARD and never bothered to inform me about the charges through phone or email and have refused any refunds. They are horrible to deal with and I will never rent from them again.

  My partner hadn't mentioned it as we were on separate flights and I was away on business travel for a week after. But it isn't his job to tell me that Turnbull car hire was charging my credit card for damages I was unaware of, it is Turnbull's job to notify me by phone or email or letter or anything. I never received an email or text or call from anyone at Turnbull rentals about this charge. Had I not checked my credit card statement I would have never known about the charge.

  I have been disputing this charge ever since as I was told it was covered by a Turnbull employee on the day of pick up and then come to find out several days after I drop off the vehicle in what I thought was perfect condition Turnbull have charged me for something I was told would be covered and even paid additional money to cover it. Had I been informed what their basic and collision insurance ACTUALLY covered (Nothing it would seem), I would never have rented through Turnbull's car hire as this is usually a standard coverage. Or it has been historically with every other car rental company I have ever used in Australia, US, UK, Singapore, Ireland, etc. I was never given any documentation about what wouldn't be covered. Instead, Turnbull car hire sent me over the coverage summary AFTER charging my credit card $300 for damage I was unaware of and thought would be covered which didn't really address the problem where I paid the extra for insurance cover and was assured by their staff that I was covered for these things.

  I checked my credit card statement several days later to find a $300 charge on it from Turnbulls car hire. I rang thinking this was a mix up and they said that it was from damage to the car but had no further information. I had to chase them by phone and email several times over a couple weeks between work travel. I called back after emailing several times and it turns out there was a scratch on the door which must have been from a stray rock (it took them over two weeks to find the photos of the scratch). Turn bull carrier claim they told my partner about the damage when he went to retrieve my sunglasses after we returned the car. Turnbull's rentals explained that they showed him the damage and asked if they could charge my card and then took $300 for damage that I was verbally told was covered. Turnbull's car hire actually informed someone who was NOT the cardholder or the signatory on all of the forms about the damage, explained that they were charging MY CREDIT CARD and never bothered to notify me, the actual CARDHOLDER about the charges or damages.

  Hire process was smooth and easy and Truck was in good condition. Only downside was there was no remote supplied for the hydraulic lift, making the lift a little more challenging to operate and the hand trolley was missing, which was supplied on request. Overall a good experience.
